Aim High: Stories and Inspiration from a Real-Life Rocket Boy

How does a boy from Coalwood, West Virginia, grow up to become not only a NASA-astronaut trainer but also a best-selling author? Homer Hickam described the journey in his coming-of-age memoir Rocket Boys, a New York Times #1 best-seller that inspired the film October Sky, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Hickam wrote other memoirs in what became the “Coalwood” series after retiring as an aerospace engineer at NASA on projects such as the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station. His other best-selling novels include the World War II-era “Josh Thurlow” series, the young adult sci-fi series Helium-3, the adult thriller The Dinosaur Hunter, the romance Red Helmet and his latest international bestseller Carrying Albert Home. Homer has spoken all over the world, inspiring millions to “aim high!”
