This eccentric annual festival celebrates the film site for the cult-classic, Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray.

Woodstock, Illinois was chosen as the film location for the film in 1992. Thousands of visitors from around the globe flock to the historic Woodstock Downtown Square for the annual Prognostication to hear the verdict on future weather from resident groundhog, Woodstock Willie. The Groundhog Days event weekend boasts a variety of themed activities such as movie scene walking tours, trivia, bingo, movie showings, pub crawls and more! See full event list below.

Friday, February 2 at 7 am

Visit the historic Square on the Friday after Thanksgiving and help the City of Woodstock usher in the official start to the holiday season. Will the resident groundhog, Woodstock Willie, see its shadow? Head to the Downtown to Square to find out at this highly anticipated, annual event!
