This summer, Woodstock becomes an international destination for youth baseball as the MCYSA International Youth Baseball Tournament returns July 10–19, 2026. Hosted throughout McHenry County, the annual tournament welcomes more than 80 teams from around the world for ten days of competition, cultural exchange, and community fun.
Organized by the volunteer-run McHenry County Youth Sports Association (MCYSA), the tournament has become one of the region’s favorite summer traditions, bringing athletes, families, and fans together from across the globe. Whether you are a passionate baseball enthusiast or simply looking for a fun family-friendly summer event, here is what makes the MCYSA Tournament such a memorable experience.
Teams From Around the World
Rounding the globe, youth teams ranging from 11U to 15U travel from countries including Japan, Brazil, Canada, and Puerto Rico, along with more than 20 teams from outside of Illinois. The 2026 tournament also marks 30 years of Japanese teams participating in the international competition, continuing a decades-long tradition of sportsmanship and cultural exchange in McHenry County.
Future Major League Talent
Want to see future stars before they make it big? The MCYSA Tournament has a history of showcasing rising baseball talent before players reach the professional stage. More than 20 former participants have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, including Quinn Priester and Kazuma Okamoto.
Where to Watch Games in Woodstock
Pack up your lawn chairs and get ready for a packed week of baseball at venues throughout the area, including Emricson Park, Merryman Park, Marian Central, and Bates Park. Dream Field at Emricson Park serves as one of the tournament’s featured venues and offers plenty to explore between games.
Visitors can cool off at Woodstock Water Works, located just a short walk from the fields, play a quick game of pickleball, or enjoy a stroll along Emricson Park’s 1.8-mile recreational trail.
When it is time for a post-game meal, local favorites include Niko's Red Mill Tavern, or Offsides Sports Bar & Grill. The tournament is expected to generate more than $1 million in economic impact for local businesses throughout McHenry County.
More Than a Tournament
The MCYSA is more than a youth baseball tournament. It is a cultural experience that turns opponents into lifelong friends both on and off the field. During the tournament, more than 40 local families host players from Japan and Brazil through the MCYSA homestay program, giving athletes and families the opportunity to connect, compete, and learn from one another.
Families interested in volunteering as homestay hosts are welcome to contact MCYSA at MCYSAHomestay@gmail.com to learn more about the program and how to get involved.
From the first pitch at Emricson Park to the final farewells of the homestay program, the MCYSA International Youth Baseball Tournament continues to be one of Woodstock’s favorite summer traditions. Admission is free, the talent is world-class, and the memories last a lifetime.
Fans looking to plan their visit can view tournament matchups and results through the MCYSA Game Schedule & Results page. Please note that the 2026 schedule will not be updated until July 1.
